Boys Finals -Saturday 2nd July 2016

Outstanding Performance from the Kingston Boys!

Coach: Adam Wicks - Ethan, Jordan, Sam, Charlie, Matt and Ben

The Kingston boys were knocked out at the quarter final stage of the 2016 London Youth Games through the lucky dip of sudden death penalties.  After remaining unbeaten in all of their 7 games, it was down to spot kicks to decide who progressed and who went home.  It was such a cruel way to end their challenge on the competition, as they only conceded 1 goal in the morning session, 4 in the afternoon session, scored 14 goals, drew only two games and had finished top of both their groups during the day!

One of the strongest teams in the competition, it looked like they were going to take up a place in the semi finals and potentially even the final, but it wasn't to happen.  However, this was the best performance by a Kingston boys team in recent years and the Royal Borough and Corinthian-Casuals are very proud of such a fantastic display of flair and ability, skill and sportsmanship.

But with so many year 8 players in the squad, thoughts have already turned to next year.  The side will resume their challenge and hopefully improve on today's placing and score more points for the Borough's league position in the London Youth Games League.

Well done to all the boys and to Corinthian-Casuals coach, and London Youth Games veteran,  Adam Wicks who has been coaching and preparing the boys since the end of May.  He said, "I cannot be prouder of these boys.  I think many teams underestimated them. Perhaps because of their size or age, but most were stunned at the quality of the football they played.  And they are such great lads and have such a great attitude and showed such a mature character.  I can't wait for next year!"
