Kingston-Upon-Thames Girls 5-a-side at the London Youth Games!

posted 9 Jul 2017, 09:57 by King George Field   [ updated 9 Jul 2017, 10:26 ]

In Europe's biggest festival of youth sport at Crystal Palace, the Kingston Girls 5-a-side team battled hard against some very good opposition on tricky pitches and in sweltering conditions. The spirit in the team was great to see, even though the results went against them, they never stopped working and demonstrated how much they had learnt in the training sessions over the last month.

The Kingston team, ably coached by the vastly experienced Martin Woodroffe, president of the Corinthian-Casuals Youth Section, found the going tough against some teams with players who are the very best in their age groups.

It was a fantastic effort by the girls, supported by a great group of parents and spectators who helped motivate and encourage the girls to play some very good football. The new Mayor of Kingston visited and loudly cheered the girls on, expressing how proud she was of the girls taking part.

Well done everyone!

Kingston-Upon-Thames Boys 5-a-side at the London Youth Games!

posted 8 Jul 2017, 11:35 by King George Field   [ updated 8 Jul 2017, 11:39 ]

Another outstanding performance by the Kingston Boys in Europe's biggest festival of sport at Crystal Palace today.

As usual, the Games attracted the best players in age group from most of the football academies in London Boroughs and the standard was extremely high. Some of the players on show today will,  like Raheem Sterling, make their way into the professional football.

The Kingston team, coached by Adam Wicks of the CCFC u21s,  played some very strong teams but eventually lost to three times winners, Lewisham in the quarter finals, on one of the hottest days of the year so far.

Corinthian-Casuals player, David M. from the under 15s, scored a couple of very important goals for the team who played six games beating Havering, Brent, Hackney and Haringey.

A fantastic effort by everyone today including the very supportive parents who braved the heat and dust and drove home some very tired boys.

See you next year!

We're In the Division Play-Off Final!!

posted 28 Apr 2017, 03:27 by King George Field   [ updated 28 Apr 2017, 03:31 ]

WE'VE MADE THE PLAY-OFF FINAL!!!
Dear Corinthian Family,

For those of you that don't know, Casuals won their Semi-Final last night at Greenwich Borough, 4-3 and have now reached the Play Off Final!  We will face Dorking Wanderers on Saturday in a winner-takes-all final!
Dorking Wanderers Football Club
Westhumble Community Ground
London Rd
Dorking, Surrey RH5 6AD
KICK OFF: 3.00pm
The winner is promoted into the Ryman Premier Division and if we can get the result we want, we'll be playing some old adversaries next season, like Kingstonians, Dulwich Hamlet, Leatherhead and Met Police.

Fortunes have been hiding for Casuals over the past few years, so this is a good chance of potentially witnessing, and being part of history in the making! It's should be a great afternoon out for our Corinthian families and a great opportunity to show our support for the club.

Dorking have told us they are planning a big family-friendly day with space for little ones to play, ice cream vans, a bar, etc. So if you fancy a picturesque drive through the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on Saturday afternoon, I know the team and the club would welcome your support!
VAI CORINTHIANS!
To follow up on the Reserve XI too, they won their game last night, coming from behind to beat a strong Uxbridge team 2-1.

They also picked up the Surburban League Trophy as Division Champions!  Well done to Will Letts, Reserve Team Manager, Conor, goalkeeping coach, and the Youth Section's very own Adam Wicks!!
The Guiding Force:  Adam, Will and Connor

Corinthians on Tour

posted 20 Apr 2017, 02:47 by King George Field

Continuing a long history of touring sides, CCFC sent two teams to the Isle of Wight over the Easter weekend for tournaments in the u13 and u14 age groups.  Both teams gave a very good account of themselves and both teams won the Fair Play Awards in the age groups!! This is an achievement that brings great credit to the players, managers and the coaches.  Although lifting trophies is considered as 'success', for a club like ours, with our history and philosophy, the Fair Play Awards are the pinnacle of achievement and the club is very proud of these teams for upholding and confirming our ethos.

Well done boys!
